While I totally agree that blur-based techniques aren't the best out there, I also know firsthand that doing things the other way takes hours of time, tremendous patience, and a lot of skill. Nobody's arguing with you there. But if you're a working wedding / portrait photographer (guessing you're not), and you have sometimes dozens of images to get through in a half-day's worth of retouching, then I still believe that Pro Retouch (our action) is the best solution out there. Yes, it's a compromise of sorts, since you CAN get better results. But I do believe it's 90% as good, in 10% of the time. If you're getting paid by Gucci to retouch high-end ad campaigns, by all means, spend a half day retouching someone's skin. But for the average, working photographer, this is a far more practical, realistic solution (unless you're charging $30k for weddings).

(By the way, if you're going to come to my blog and piss on my work, at least have the balls to post a link to your website so people can decide whether you're full of shit or not)

WOW...Another person using BLUR techniques to soften skin. Why are people so amazed by this Cheap quick fix. Best retouching is done with patience, the most skilled artists, and NO BLURRING.

Wahoo! Thank you so much for posting this video tutorial because, as you are right, I'm one of those people that do not use the Pro Retouch actions. Why? Um, because I didn't know its benefits until this video. But, I'm SO going to use it now because I've been using the Patch Tool like there's no tomorrow, aka 15 minutes rather than a few minutes. So, thanks again!!!
