Well, that’s it for this year. We have the curse of the goat. The curse of the Black Cat. And now, Becker’s Curse. That’s right. Thanks to Mr. Christopher Becker’s dire prediction for the Cubs, Chicago actually did get swept by the Diamondbacks in an embarrassing collapse of their ability to play baseball at all. I think Ramirez went 0 for 12 or something ridiculous like that, They grounded into double plays left and right. They gave up home runs like it was 2001. And we shielded our eyes from the horror, as the tiny bit of hope we did have for even a stinking pennant was smashed by a team that didn’t even exist 10 years ago, and who had several players who hadn’t even been in the majors for a full season. A team from Arizona, for chrissake. If global temperatures rise another two degrees, it’ll probably melt into a giant pool of lava. Oh well. What would Cubs fandom be without losing, anyway. Looks like poetic justice is just about to be served anyway, as the Angels will probably get their asses handed to them again today, making that a sweep of the Halos, too. And for all you Yankees fans out there. Yup, you guys are screwed, too, as Cleveland will probably make NY look like a bunch of overpaid geriatrics. Weird post-season.
